Sustainability Report

HAPPY EARTH DAY, EARTHLINGS!

We've crunched the numbers and our sustainability team have been hard at work being kind to the planet - diverting 97.3% of our waste from landfill in the past year!

Since opening our doors up in 2018, we’ve been quietly working toward becoming the most sustainable precinct on the planet - and we’re absolutely (and literally) crushing goals.

Check out some of our recycling initiatives below:

GLASS

We've converted crushed service glassware into 500kg of sandbags used to help staff prep for Cyclone Alfie.

STYROPHONE

We’ve reduced our styrofoam onsite by 400kg a month, replacing this material with reusable fish factory tubs!

CANS &
TINS

All food tins are crushed and baled on site, before being collected for specialised recycling.

COOKING
OIL

In the kitchen, our chefs recycle 118,000L of cooking oil a year that is collected from the site and made into renewable biofuel.

TAKEAWAY
CONTAINERS

All of our takeaway containers, coffee cups and trays are compostable!

OYSTER
SHELLS

Over 3.402 tonnes of oysters shells have been diverted and donated to the amazing volunteers from the Moreton Bay Shellfish Reef restoration team.

ORGANIC
WASTE

Compostable waste such as green waste, paper straws & wine corks are sent to Nugrow, Queensland’s leading recycling and regeneration scientists, and turned into valuable compost.

CO-MINGLED
WASTE

Materials such as e-waste, batteries, soft plastics & containers are collected separately for specialised recycling.

TEXTILES & CLOTHING

We take unwanted textiles and clothing from Crystalbrook Hotel and have diverted 265kg of textiles from entering landfill and saved 586kg of c02.

WATER

Our gardens are watered using 100% rainwater.

CARDBOARD

Wax cardboard and styrofoam is returned to the suppliers.

STYROFOAM

Broken styrofoam has all labels removed and broken into hand sized pieces and sent to Polyfoam where they process it and can repurpose it into things such as “Waffle Pods”.

CORFLUTE

Our coreflute signage gets sent to Corex who give their recycled corflute to EcoBin which we use as our office bins. Closing the loop!
